I spent a few days in Istanbul over new years. It's somewhere I've always wanted to go so when the opportunity came up I jumped at it. And it didn't disappoint. The weather was freezing, wet sleety snow falling from the sky that seemed to hit you in the face no matter how many layers you had on. But that just gave us more of an excuse to sit in cafes and drink some hot Turkish tea/Irish coffees: ) The city itself is very cool. Obviously there's the usual tourist attractions mosques/museums etc. but outside of that there are lots of quirky little places to explore, windy cobbled streets and an of the beaten track art gallery or two. It was just what the doctor ordered to head into 2015 inspired, energised and excited about what lies ahead.
Jim
Hanging out with my friend Jim at his exhibition opening in the Green Gallery tonight. Jim is one of Ireland's greatest artists and his stunning work including his intricate celtic paintings, his Thin Lizzy art and his world famous Che Guevara poster are all on show at the Green Gallery until December 11th. And not only is Jim a phenomenal artist, tonight he revealed another amazing hidden talent...that of photobomber extraordinaire! If you get a chance to pop in to the exhibition it's well worth a visit.
